Self care is different for everyone and it changes through the seasons for each person. Here are some ideas to help you figure out what you need and how to get creative with your self-care!
- Your self-care is YOURS: if going online and watching cat videos for 10 minutes is what you need for self-care, that’s what you need! If planning out meals and snacks for the next month or cleaning your house top to bottom helps you feel taken care of, do that! Self-care isn’t just facials and massages, it is whatever you need to take care of yourself as a whole person.
- Sometimes self-care isn’t comfortable: having a difficult conversation, making a budget and sticking to it, and letting go of toxic relationships are all examples of things that are not comfortable but can be forms of taking care of yourself.
- It’s the little things: That moment in the morning with your first cup of coffee, a sip of wine at night, making the bed, and even taking a shower can be little self-care gems in your day!
- Listen to yourself: If you’re not sure what it is you need for self-care, take a moment to sit quietly and see what comes to mind. Maybe your mind is racing and you might benefit from some meditation, or your body is tight and achy and needing to stretch. If your mind keeps wandering to all the things you need to get done, make a to-do list and start checking things off!
